MIC President Datuk Seri G. Palanivel has pledged to resolve land title issues in Cameron Highlands which is the key concern of voters in the constituency.

“Many have been farming on agricultural land without titles and have built houses there,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Palanivel, who is the Barisan Nasional candidate for Cameron Highlands, said he would request that the Federal Government provide land and build low-cost houses, such as those under the Housing Project for the Hardcore Poor, to resolve the problem.

“The Government must provide the land and build houses costing below RM120,000 for the poor,” he said.

He added that there was also the need for a proper drainage system to avoid flooding in the highlands.

“We aim to broaden the roads to relieve traffic congestion as well as provide more parking lots for residents and tourists,” said Palanivel.

The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department also pledged to build a matriculation college in the area and ensure more specialists are posted to government hospitals there.
